Air Fryer Bread Recipes From Scratch
Bread is extremely easy to bake from scratch in any air fryer model.
The air fryer circulates hot air around the dough and creates a crispy and evenly-cooked crust.
However, be mindful of the size and shape of your basket as it may limit the type of bread you can bake.
When baking bread you can use an air fryer recipe or adapt a traditional bread recipe.
You may need to adjust the cooking time and temperature based on the size and type of your basket, as well as the size and shape of the bread.
Always check the bread frequently to ensure it is cooking evenly and the crust is not getting too brown. If you find it is, cover it with a piece of foil, preventing the crust from burning.

What Is A Sourdough Starter?
Sourdough starter is a mixture of flour and water that has been fermented with wild yeasts and bacteria. It is used to leaven bread and give it a distinctive sour flavour.

Air Fryer Rye Bread Recipe
Rye flour is a type of flour made from rye grains and is used to make rye bread.
In comparison to bread prepared with wheat flour, it is usually denser and has a stronger flavour.
Rye flour and wheat flour are frequently combined to make rye bread and can include additional ingredients like nuts or spices.
Ingredients
- 7g active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp honey
- 200g rye flour
- 200g strong white or wholemeal flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional)
How To Make Air Fryer Rye Bread
Combine the rye flour, strong white flour, yeast, and salt in a mixing bowl.
In a separate jug, mix the honey with 250ml of warm water, then pour the mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir until a dough forms.
Rye flour tends to absorb more water, so if the dough seems too dry, add more warm water until the dough is soft.
Transfer the dough onto a floured work surface and knead for 10 minutes until it becomes smooth.
Because rye flour has less gluten than white flour, the dough may not feel as springy as a regular white loaf.
After kneading, transfer the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with cling film and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until it roughly doubles in size.
Next, place the dough back onto your work surface and knead it briefly to remove any air bubbles.
If you’re using caraway seeds, knead them into the dough.
Shape the dough into a smooth oval loaf and place it into the greased or lined suitable tin (Approx 2lb loaf tin.)
Cover the tin with cling film or a damp tea towel and leave it to rise in a warm place for a further 1-1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
Preheat the air fryer to 180C / 360F for 5 minutes.
Once the bread has risen, place it in the basket.
Cook for the first 20 minutes at 180C/ 360F. degrees, then a further 20 minutes at 200C /400F degrees.
Total cooking time 40 Minutes. Check regularly.
Once cooked leave for 10 minutes and then turn onto a wire rack.
