Air Fryer Focaccia

Air Fryer Focaccia

What is Air Fryer Focaccia?

Focaccia is an Italian flatbread baked in the oven and topped with olive oil, sea salt, and herbs. However, with the rise of air frying, people have started making focaccia in the air fryer, resulting in a lighter and fluffier texture.

Air-fried focaccia is made with a simple dough rolled out, topped with various ingredients, and then air-fried until golden brown. The result is a crispy, delicious, and healthy bread that can be enjoyed as a side dish, a snack, or as a pizza crust.

  • 250g plain flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 fl oz or 8 tablespoons of warm water
  • 2 fl oz olive oil
  • Toppings of your choice (e.g., cherry tomatoes, olives, cheese, herbs)

How to Make Air Fryer Focaccia: Step-by-Step Guide

  • In a mixing bowl, add the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well. Add the warm water and olive oil and mix until a smooth dough forms.
  • Once the dough has formed, place it onto a floured surface and knead it for a few minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Roll out the dough into a circle or rectangular shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Add your toppings to the rolled out dough. Popular toppings include cherry tomatoes, olives, cheese and herbs such as rosemary or thyme. Drizzle a little olive oil on top to help the toppings stick to the dough.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 190 C / 375 F. Once heated, place the focaccia dough into the basket and air fry for 10-12 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy. Remove the focaccia from the air fryer and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
  • The focaccia can be enjoyed as a side dish, a snack, or a pizza crust. Here are some serving suggestions:
  • Serve as a side dish with your favourite soup or salad.
  • Slice and serve with a dipping sauce, such as marinara or garlic butter.
  • Use as a pizza crust and top with your favourite pizza toppings.

Bake focaccia in the oven. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F and bake the focaccia for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

The focaccia can be frozen. Simply place it in an airtight container or freezer bag and freeze it for up to 3 months.

Whole wheat flour can be used, but the texture may be slightly different.

Get creative and experiment with different flavours.

Focaccia is not gluten-free as it is made with plain flour, which contains gluten. Make the focaccia using gluten-free flour.
