How To Air Fry Liver In The Ninja Dual
Can I Cook Liver In An Air Fryer?
Liver is delicious cooked in an air fryer. You can cook liver in any type of air fryer.
Be mindful that all models cook differently and timings and temperatures may differ.
When using an air fryer for lamb’s liver or any other type of liver, it’s important to keep an eye on the cooking process as the liver tends to cook quickly.
Overcooking can result in a dry and tough texture.
I prefer lamb’s liver as it has a more mellow flavour compared to ox (beef) or pig’s liver.

Liver is highly nutritious!
A single serving supplies your daily requirements of essential nutrients like iron, zinc, folate, and vitamin C.

- 4-6 rashers of streaky bacon

- Cut the bacon rashers into bite-sized pieces and dice the onion.
- Place the bacon pieces and the onion in the preheated basket.
- Cook for 6-7 minutes, turning halfway through, or until the bacon is slightly crispy and the onions slightly see-through.
- Next, lower the temperature to 180C / 360F. Add the liver to the bacon and onions and cook for a further 8-10 minutes. Turn occasionally.
- The liver will be cooked when the internal temperature of the liver has reached 71C / 160F.
- Remove the bacon, onions and liver from the basket and place them on a plate. You will add them to the gravy later.
How To Make Gravy In An Air Fryer
Increase the temperature to 200C/400F.
The juices from the liver will collect in the bottom of the basket.
Stir in the English mustard ( you can omit this part if you don’t like mustard) followed by the beef or vegetable stock. Season with pepper.
Make a paste with 2 tablespoons of cornflour and 1 tablespoon of water (if too thick add more water drop by drop until you get the right consistency).
Add the cornflour to the stock stirring well.
Cook until the gravy starts to thicken, making sure you stir regularly.
Once thickened add the liver, bacon and onions to the gravy and cook for a few minutes more until the liver has heated through.
Enjoy your delicious Liver and Bacon with your favourite sides, such as mashed potatoes and green peas!

Can I Achieve Crispy Lambs Liver In the Ninja Air Fryer?
Yes most definitely!
Follow these tips:
Using Oil
While air fryers require less oil, if you prefer lightly brush the liver pieces with olive oil before cooking. This helps crisp the liver.
Turning The Liver
Don’t forget to turn the liver pieces to ensure even browning.
This simple step makes a big difference in the final texture.
Storing and Freezing Liver
Refrigerating Cooked Liver
After cooking the liver, allow it to cool to room temperature. Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The cooked liver can be stored in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Reheating
When ready to use your leftover liver, reheat it at 180C / 360F for a few minutes to maintain its crispiness.
Freezing Cooked Liver
If you have more liver than you can eat within a few days, you can freeze it for longer storage.
Cool completely, then place the liver pieces in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until they are firm.
Once frozen, transfer the liver to an airtight container or freezer bag, removing as much air as possible to prevent freezer burn.
Label and Date
Remember to label the container or bag with the date to keep track of its freshness. Properly stored, liver can be frozen for up to 2-3 months.
Thawing and Reheating Frozen Liver
To use frozen liver, thaw it in the refrigerator overnight.
Then, reheat it using the same methods as reheating cooked liver. Heat through until piping hot.
Always exercise food safety and make sure the liver is handled, stored, and reheated properly to maintain its quality and taste.
