Air Fryer Mushrooms

Can You Cook Mushrooms In An Air Fryer?

Yes, you can. Air fryers are so versatile and air-fried mushrooms are delicious and not oily.

They are such a versatile vegetable that goes with most main dishes and you only have to use basic ingredients.

Chestnut mushrooms are my favourite as they have more taste than button mushrooms but you can use any mushrooms.

I will be using my Ninja Dual Zone Air fryer 400UK but these recipes will work in any air fryer. Be mindful that timings and temperatures may differ.

Here’s a simple guide on how to do it:

Ingredients

  • Mushrooms (cleaned and sliced)
  • Olive oil or cooking spray
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

How Long To Cook Mushrooms In The Air Fryer?

Mushrooms take 8-12 minutes to cook and are full of flavour as air frying retains all the nutrients.

How to Cook Mushrooms In An Air Fryer

Set the temperature to 190C / 380F and preheat for 5 minutes.

Clean the mushrooms with a paper towel or a mushroom brush and slice them to your desired thickness. If very dirty peel them.

Small mushrooms can be left whole. Please do not wash them as they absorb water and will not crisp.

Why you shouldn’t wash Mushrooms.

Place the slices in a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, or use a cooking spray to coat them lightly.

Add salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you prefer. Toss the mushrooms to ensure an even coating.

Place the seasoned mushrooms in the basket in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding.

Cook for 8-12 minutes, shaking the basket or tossing halfway through.

The mushrooms should be golden brown and slightly crispy on the edges when cooked.

Cooking times may vary depending on the size and type of mushrooms, so keep an eye on them to prevent overcooking.

How To Air Fry Frozen Mushrooms

Air frying frozen mushrooms is so easy.

Preheat your air fryer to 190C / 380F.

Spread the frozen mushrooms in a single layer in the basket.

Cook for approximately 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket or stirring halfway through the cooking time to ensure even crispiness.

Keep an eye on them, as the exact time may vary depending on the size of the mushrooms and the specific model of your air fryer.

Make sure not to overcook them as they will dry out.

Adjust the time accordingly until they reach your desired level of crispiness.
