Why Choose Air Fryer Courgette Fries?

Traditional fries can be laden with excess calories and unhealthy fats.

These crispy, golden delights are not only a tasty alternative to traditional fries but also a guilt-free snack.

These green wonders are low in calories but high in nutrients, making them a fantastic choice for a wholesome snack.

Packed with vitamins A and C, courgettes contribute to healthy skin and a boosted immune system.

They also contain essential minerals like potassium, which is excellent for maintaining blood pressure.

What makes these fries even more appealing is the air fryer magic.

Using hot air circulation, the air fryer gives you that perfect crunch without the excess oil, keeping these fries light and satisfying.

Plus, it’s a quick and convenient way to cook a batch for snacking or as a side dish.

Tips for Selecting, Cleaning, and Cutting Courgettes

Selecting fresh courgettes is crucial for the best flavour and texture.

At the supermarket, look for firm courgettes with a vibrant green colour.

Avoid any with blemishes or soft spots.

A little weight is a good sign – it indicates juiciness!

Give your courgettes a good rinse under cold water.

Once your courgettes are squeaky clean, it’s time to turn them into fry shapes.

Start by trimming off both ends, then cut the courgette in half lengthwise.

Lay each half flat on the cutting board and slice them into thin, fry-like sticks.

Aim for uniformity to ensure even cooking in the air fryer.

Fancy a change, slice them into circles. Equally delicious!

Crispy Coatings

Traditional breadcrumbs work like a charm, but for a healthier twist, consider using panko crumbs or even crushed cornflakes.

TIP: Place the coated fries on a wire rack for a few minutes to let the coating set. This helps achieve that perfect crispiness in the air fryer.

Serving Suggestions

Transform your courgette fries into a show-stopping appetiser by serving them in a rustic basket or on a wooden board.

Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or dill for a burst of colour and flavour.

Consider adding a drizzle of truffle oil for a touch of gourmet elegance.

For a more casual setting, serve your courgette fries in a cone made from parchment paper – it adds a charming touch and makes for easy snacking.

Don’t forget to provide lemon wedges on the side; a squeeze of citrus can enhance the overall taste and freshness.

Tips for Crispy Perfection

Shaking the Basket During Cooking

To achieve an even crispiness, shake the basket halfway through the cooking process. This ensures that all sides of the courgette fries are exposed to the circulating hot air.

Avoiding Overcrowding for Even Cooking

Overcrowding the basket can lead to uneven cooking. Give your courgette fries space to ensure each piece gets the right amount of heat.
