Yes, you can. Air fryers are so versatile and air-fried mushrooms are delicious and not oily.

They are a versatile vegetable that goes with most main dishes and you only have to use basic ingredients.

Chestnut mushrooms are my favourite as they have more taste than button mushrooms but you can use any mushrooms.

How Long Do Mushrooms Take In The Air Fryer?

Mushrooms take 8-12 minutes to cook and are full of flavour as air frying retains all the nutrients.

How to Cook Mushrooms In An Air Fryer

Set the temperature to 190C / 380F and preheat for 5 minutes.

Clean the mushrooms with a paper towel or a mushroom brush and slice them to your desired thickness. If very dirty peel them.

Small mushrooms can be left whole.

Please do not wash them as they absorb water and will not crisp.

Place the slices in a bowl, drizzle with olive oil, or use a cooking spray to coat them lightly.

Add salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you prefer. Toss the mushrooms to ensure an even coating.

Place the seasoned mushrooms in the basket in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding.

Cook for 8-12 minutes, shaking the basket or tossing halfway through.

Spread the frozen mushrooms in a single layer in the basket.

Depending on the size of your mushrooms either halve or quarter them. Try to cut them as evenly as possible.

200 C / 400 F

Ingredients

  • 200g mushrooms
  • 110g Greek Yoghurt or 2 beaten eggs

Breading Mix

  • 220g breadcrumbs
  • 110g grated cheese
  • olive oil spray
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic granules
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • salt
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric

How To Cook Air Fryer Breaded Mushrooms

Clean the mushrooms with damp kitchen paper or a mushroom brush if you have one. Do not immerse in water as they will absorb the water and not crisp up.

Cut into halves if the mushrooms are small or quarters if large.

Mix the breadcrumbs, cayenne, turmeric, garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning in a bowl. Stir well to combine.

Preheat the air fryer to 200C / 400 F for 5 minutes.

Place the yoghurt or beaten eggs in a separate bowl.

Coat the mushrooms with the yoghurt or beaten egg and dip them into the breadcrumb mix. Coat well.

Cook at 200 C / 400 F for 8 – 10 minutes. Turn halfway through cooking time.
