An air fryer is more of a convection oven and cooks cake beautifully.

It’s also time and energy-saving and super easy!

Converting Your Recipes

To convert your recipes to air fryer recipes, you need to decrease the cooking time by 25% and decrease the cooking temperature by 14C / 25F.

Air Fryer Baking Equipment

You can use any ovenproof dish or mould that you would use in your oven.

Use your baking tins if they fit into your basket.

Silicon moulds are great as they can be cut to size to fit.

Remember anything you put in your oven you can use in your air fryer.

Tips For Successful Air Fryer Baking

To prevent the top of your cake from burning place a piece of foil over it when it’s reached your desired brownness. Tuck the foil under the cake tin to prevent it from blowing into the element.

Successful baking is having the right cookware. Invest if you need to, but measure your basket before purchasing.

If using your own recipe, decrease the cooking time and temperature.

Air Fryer Temperature

SETTING: BAKE 160C/ 320F for 30 minutes then decrease to 150C / 300F for 10 minutes.

Eggs, milk and butter should be at room temperature before making this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 260g self-raising flour
  • 250g  caster sugar
  • 3 medium eggs
  • 115 g margarine / softened unsalted butter
  • 120ml milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

How To Bake A Sponge Cake In An Air Fryer

Preheat your air fryer to 160C /320 F for 5 minutes.

Prepare your cake tins or moulds by spraying them with olive oil and lining them with nonstick greaseproof paper.

Add the sugar, margarine, milk and vanilla extract to a large bowl. Mix thoroughly.

Sift the flour into the mixture and beat together.

Transfer the cake mix to your tins and level the surface.

Cook at 160C / 320F for 30 minutes then lower the temperature to 150C / 300F for 10 minutes.

TIP: Is the top of the cake getting too brown? Cover it with foil. Be sure to tuck it under the tin/container to stop it from blowing into the element.

The cake will be cooked when a skewer, toothpick or similar tool is pushed into the centre and comes out clean.

Cook for a few minutes more if not ready.

Air Fryer Box Mix Victoria Sponge

Choose a box mix and select your ingredients as per box instructions.

Make up the mixture as directed. Transfer the cake mix to your tins and level the surface.

Cook at 160C / 320F for 30 minutes then lower the temperature to 150C / 300F for 10 minutes.

Air Fryer Banana Bread

AIR FRY at 160C / 320F for 60 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 mashed banana
  • 150g caster sugar
  • 2 medium eggs beaten
  • 150ml vegetable oil
  • 150g self-raising flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

How To Make Air Fryer Banana Bread

Add the banana and caster sugar to a large bowl.

Blend until creamy. Add 2 beaten eggs and mix.

Then add the vegetable oil (replaces the butter) and blend again. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, add the flour, baking powder and cinnamon and mix well.

Gradually add the flour to the batter mix and mix until combined.

Grease your cake tin and line it with greaseproof paper. Fill the cake tin 3/4 full and level. Wrap foil around the tin tucking it underneath. This will stop it from blowing into the element.

Cook at 160C / 320F for 40 minutes then remove the foil. Cook for a further 10 minutes until a skewer comes out clean. Add a few minutes if necessary.

Air Fryer Carrot Cake

Temperature And Time

Cook at 160C /320F for 40 minutes then increase the temperature to 170C / 330F for 10 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 225g self-raising flour
  • 30g caster sugar
  • 150g brown sugar
  • 150ml extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 carrots (large)
  • 2 eggs (large)
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp mixed spice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

How To Cook Carrot Cake In The Air Fryer

Wash and finely grate the carrots and set aside.

Prepare your cake tin by spraying it with oil and lining it with greaseproof paper.

Preheat the Air Fryer to 180C/360F for 5 minutes

In a bowl, add the grated carrot, flour, sugars, ground ginger, mixed spice, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Stir well.

Make a well in the centre and add the beaten eggs. Mix thoroughly.

Add the oil and beat until well combined. Add the milk gradually if the batter is too thick.

Transfer the batter to the cake tin gently shaking to remove air bubbles and cover with foil (tucking it under the tin to prevent it from blowing into the element). This will prevent the top from burning.

Cook at 160C / 320F for 40 minutes.

After 40 minutes remove the foil carefully and increase the temperature to 170C / 330F for a further 10 minutes.

The top will brown nicely.

When the time is up insert a toothpick it should come out clean if not, cook for a further 10 minutes.

Let the cake cool and turn it onto a plate.

Air Fryer Gluten-Free Almond Cake

Cooking Time And Temperature

Cooking Time: 15-18 minutes

Setting: Air fry at 170C / 350F

Ingredients

125g plain flour

50g caster sugar

2 eggs

60g melted butter

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

How To Air Fry Gluten-Free Almond Cake

In a large bowl, whisk together the plain flour, sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, salt, and baking powder until well combined.

Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch round cake pan or a container that will fit your basket, and smooth the top with a spatula.

Place the cake pan in the basket, and AIR FRY at 170C / 350F for 15-18 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then carefully remove it and transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve the almond cake alone, or topped with your favourite frosting or glaze. Enjoy!

Setting: Air fry at 160C / 320F

Ingredients

90g plain flour

25g cocoa powder

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

2 eggs

100 g caster sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

125 ml vegetable oil

3 tbsps milk

How To Air Fry Chocolate Cake

Line a suitable cake tin with greaseproof paper.

In a large bowl sift the plain flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

In a separate bowl beat the eggs, caster sugar and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy. Add the vegetable oil and beat well.

Add the flour gradually in stages to the egg mixture with the milk. Mix well.

Transfer the mixture to the tin and tap to release any bubbles.

Preheat the air fryer to 160C / 320F for 5 minutes.

Place the cake tin in the basket and cook at 160C / 320F for 25 – 30 minutes.

Check the cake after 25 minutes.

Insert a cocktail stick into the middle of the cake, if it comes out clean it’s cooked, if not pop in for a few minutes more.

In a large bowl add the plain flour, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda. Mix well.

Mix the oil, sugar, Greek yoghurt and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until the sugar has dissolved.

Gradually bit by bit, sift the flour mixture into the oil mixture. Mix until combined. The mixture should run off the spoon. Add a small amount of water if you find the mixture too thick.

Take two baking tins or silicone moulds that fit your basket or one large tin, line with greaseproof paper, and spray with oil.

You may have to cook in two batches, depending on the size of your basket.

Cook for 30 minutes at 180C /360F.

Insert a cocktail stick into the centre of the cake, if it comes out clean, it’s ready.

If not, pop it in for a few minutes more. If it browns too quickly, place a piece of foil over the top.

How Long To Cook Chocolate Chip Cookies In The Air Fryer?

Cook Time: 8 -10 mins

Setting: 160 C / 320 F

Ingredients

Makes 16 cookies depending on size

  • 125g unsalted butter (softened)
  • 300g plain flour
  • 100g light brown sugar
  • 75g granulated sugar
  • 300 g milk chocolate chips 
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

How To Cook Chocolate Chip Cookies In The Air Fryer

Place the sugar, light brown sugar, softened butter, 1/2 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of vanilla extract in a large bowl.

Mix well, then add 1 egg (room temperature) and mix again.

Gradually sift in the plain flour, bicarbonate of soda and baking powder.

Add the chocolate chips. Mix again.

Mix until well combined and a dough has formed.

Cover the bowl with cling film and place in the fridge for 15 minutes.

After 15 mins, use a tablespoon and form the dough into golf ball-sized cookies, then press flat to form a cookie shape.

Line the basket with greaseproof paper.

Place the cookies in the basket on setting AIR FRY 160 C / 320 F for 8 -10 minutes.

Once cooked leave them to cool in the air fryer for 10 minutes before removing.

230g unsalted butter, softened

200g granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make Butter Cookies In The Air Fryer

In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the egg and vanilla extract, and beat until well combined.

Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl,

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, and beat until a soft dough forms.

Roll the dough into small balls and press down to form a cookie shape. Place them on a sheet of greaseproof paper leaving enough space between them for the air to circulate.

Place the greaseproof paper containing the cookies into the basket.

Cook at 160 C / 320 F for 8-10 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden.

Leave the cookies to cool in the air fryer for 10 minutes before moving them to a wire rack.
